National ePrescribing Patient Safety Initiative (NEPSI)
The National ePrescribing Patient Safety Initiative (NEPSI) is a joint project of dedicated organizations that each play a unique role in resolving the current crisis in preventable medication errors. NEPSI offers free e-prescribing software to physicians and pharmacies. The software is provided without cost by Allscripts and NEPSI coalition members.

Physicians who subscribe to the National ePrescribing Patient Safety Initiative now will be able to access lab test ordering and results software from Quest Diagnostics.
The Lyndhurst, N.J.-based vendor recently joined the initiative to offer access to its Care360 Web portal via NEPSI's eRx Now application. The portal will enable physicians to order lab tests as well as view, analyze and graph results on all their patients. The integration will be available later this year.
NEPSI was created in January by a coalition of industry vendors and payer organizations. The $100 million initiative enables physicians to sign up to use specially designed e-Rx software from Allscripts, Chicago, free via the application service provider computing model.
