The below graph shows an average of 763 clinicians using eMPOWERx to send electronic prescriptions between October 2008 and December 2008. There were 478 clinicians in January and 795 clinicians in December 2008 using eMPOWERx. This was a 66.3% increase in the number of e-prescribing clinicians during 2008. When compared to the total number of Medicaid clinicians writing prescriptions in Florida, the data indicates that 5.2% of all Medicaid prescribers sent electronic prescriptions using eMPOWERx representing about 1.8% of Medicaid prescriptions. The data indicates that each clinician wrote an average of 25 e-prescriptions per month during 2008.
There was a 51.4% increase in the total number of e-prescriptions for the month of January 2008 to that reported in the month of December 2008. The number of Medicaid e-prescriptions sent during the month of December was 20,426 up from 13,492 in January 2008. When compared to all Medicaid prescriptions processed in Florida for this time period, the data shows an average of 1.3% of all prescriptions were electronic prescriptions sent using eMPOWERx.

The graph below shows e-prescription transactions for new e-prescriptions, refill requests from pharmacies, and refill responses from e-prescribers based on statistics reported for Medicaid by eMPOWERx. As shown, new e-prescriptions make up the greatest number, at about 57% of all e-prescriptions as of December 2008. The fastest growing type of transaction between January and December 2008 was e-prescription refill requests from the pharmacy with an increase rate of 81.9%. The second fastest growing type of transactions was refill responses at 65.4%, and last were new e-prescriptions with an increase of 42.4%.
