Resources include an overview of Florida health records law, tools for educating and assessing participants on security risks, and information on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), a law that provides privacy standards to protect patients' privacy. The Agency for Health Care Administration has created this website as an educational resource for health care providers, health information organizations, and consumers that have questions and would like to learn more about the privacy and security of electronic health records. For providers that are considering the implementation of electronic health records in their office practice or the participation in a health information network, this site provides basic information about certification of vendor products, security risk assessments, and laws governing the release of health records.
